History
Bella Vista is a deceptively large house.
It was built in 1900 - the last year of Queen Victoria's reign.
It
would seem that Bella Vista has always been used as holiday
accommodation. From 1900 to 1934 it was known as The Bungalow and
was let as apartments.
In 1934 it was renamed Bella Vista and operated
as a private hotel until 1940 when it was taken over by the army and used to
billet troops including, from 1944, US Army soldiers.
Bella
Vista re-opened as a private hotel in 1954. Bella
Vista is now owned and cared for by Deirdre McAlpin, who has upgraded the
facilities to offer superior accommodation. Bella
Vista is set up to welcome
people with a wide variety of leisure interests - Deirdre and her staff are on
hand to make your holiday break as relaxing as possible.
Many rooms including the lounge and dining room have
lovely open views of Swanage Bay with its safe, sandy beach.
